About Sighing Bear

Throughout my life I’ve had some sort of space online with Yahoo! Geocities being the first, then social media websites like MySpace, Facebook, etc. while running things on WordPress under many different accounts for different purposes. I’ve always found joy in writing about things that are happening to me or around me, but Squarespace is my first foray into using an actual domain, really involving myself in the process, and paying for it.

I’m finding social media platforms to be an unreliable platform for keeping friends and family up to date, so this is what this space is for, my outlet to update friends and family around the world, as well as the random straggler that makes an appearance. But most importantly this space is here for me; one thing I love to do is look back through my life and relive some of what I’ve done and I much prefer to do this with words and images rather than a long video.

Use the drop down to the right for more information on me and the website, the menu at the top for a focus, or drop into the uncategorised blog here.

  • So I’m Simon which people called me Si, with the amount of Si’s in school it became Sy (I’m not sure how that changed it verbally), and individuals throughout my life have said I’m like a cuddly bear. So Sy Bear, Sy sounds like Sigh and I sigh so much for no reason which brought me to Sighing Bear, I am the bear that sighs. Additionally, I’m a hairy, heavy, queer man, I embrace the bear culture.

  • I’m cis Male, Queer (Pansexual), Pagan (Ecclectic), and Polyamorous (not a swinger).

I gave up conventional work to be a Stay At Home Dad and being the primary caregiver for my child has been my primary focus for a long time.

In 2023 I was legally divorced as a part of this my child now spends half of the week with their Mum. This has given me half of the week to pursue my goals, hobbies, interests, and be social again. It’s a nice feeling finding “Me” beyong “Dad”.

Currently I live with my polyamorous non-binary romantic partner.
