Contents and Box Cost vs Individual Cost…

Total: £29.27

Initial impressions and unboxing have been captured on YouTube!

For those that don’t use it. It was really nice to get some sweets in the October box, I thought that worked really well with it being Halloween, although getting mints felt a bit ‘meh’ but, they may be something different?

The pancakes sound like they could make for a nice breakfast especially combined with the Hazelnut spread! Also I finished my granola from the another box, so it’s nice to have some new breakfast things to try, and maple and pecan have always been a favourite - although I’m dubious as previous maple and pecan flavoured products have not tasted like maple or pecan!

Individual Reviews…

(Disclaimer: This is based on my taste palate and my opinions.)

They are lemony mints.

I don’t really have a huge amount to say about these other than they tick the box. Slightly minty with a touch of lemon… A little off about why they would be in a gluten/dairy free box though as I thought all mints were?

Either way, they’re nice for lemony mints.

These are an absolute shock to the system - sour - is an understatement!

I have not had a sweet that has made my face climb inside itself like this before, they are great, but horrible! Once I started on them I couldn’t stop but have another, they are a lot of fun to eat… and I don’t know why because I don’t like them, but I really do…

Good flavour once you’re past the sour side and a nice chew to them.

At £1 a bag I’m very happy to buy more of these!

In contrast to the sour atomix these are really nice and fresh, full of flavour with each one and very chewy. I enjoyed these however they didn’t have the kick of the refreshers.

They taste a lot like Skittles only a bit sweeter and have a nice mouth feel to them, more chew and less crunch to the shell.

£1 a bag of these is fair in my opinion.

This was a dense bar and very chewy, but highly lacking in any flavour at all. I was expecting some sort of chocolate flavour to it but all I got was ‘blank’ in the flavour department. There was some sort of weird flavour thing going on that I really couldn’t put my finger on but no sign of any chocolate.

I will not be buying these in the future.

They were a small pack of nuts, two portions at most and that’s being generous. They tasted like nuts with a slight heat but nothing of any real substance.

At £1.16 they are relatively fair although a pack of plains nuts would be cheaper and taste about the same.

These were a really pleasant surprise!

They were crunchy, a lot like the corn crunch things I’ve had in the past, only they were hollow so they had the crunch but not the hardness.

The flavour was fantastic! I expected it to be an overpowering onion flavour but it was a nice balance of sour cream and onion which gave it a very pleasant flavour. Min also enjoyed these.

At £1 a bag - yeah I would get more! I’d also like to try more of their flavours.

Smells amazingly like a victoria sponge and tastes just like one! These are fantastically fluffy but hold their shape well and very delicious.

I did try one with the hazelnut spread which was nice but a bit too much sweetness for me. I regret not trying some with bacon over the top to mix some salt with the sweetness.

I’ll be buying more of these in the future to experiment with. At £2.20 a pack I feel the price is fair for the quantity and quality of the product.

To cut to the chase; it’s Nutella. However it’s a lot firmer than Nutella which makes it much harder to spread so for that reason I’m not overly keen on it and at basically £6 a jar it doesn’t feel like a fair price for the quantity you get in it, especially factoring in you can get plant based Nutella (Gluten & Dairy Free) with an extra 105g for £4.

My initial impression of this was surprise when it came out clear rather than a pink colour. It had a very distinct fruity smell to it and had a nice mixed fruit flavour.

Unfortunately I have a massive however here. It was bloody sweet and the flavouring felt very artificial and to a degree chemically, perhaps from being over sweetened. It reminded me a lot of the Tesco infused waters I drank when I was a teen about 25 years ago.

Price wise, it’s very expensive for what it is.

This was a very easy to use curry paste that added some depth and flavour to the prawn curry for dinner, it additionally added a subtle heat that slowly grew on you the more you ate.

It was a nice curry paste however I do feel for one serving the price was a little over the top.

A single tin is not really enough for one person and additionally, I don’t have any oven dishes for such a small amount so I did have to bulk this out.

I used it in conjunction with some pork mince and peas, topped with a combination of maris piper baby potato, and sweet potato mash and vegan cheese on top.

The addition of lentils, chickpeas and cannallini beans was a really nice touch but beyond that there wasn’t much to it. I feel this is another case of offering ‘ready made’ food to people who don’t know how to make a meal from scratch and capitalising on that. I could have put this together much cheaper and had it tasting much better cooking from scratch.

Not a fan of this, especially at £3.50!

Okay, so… Oh-my-god! Bloody lovely!

I had these with almond milk for the first time and couldn’t help but exclaim “Wow” which had Min very curious, they tried a mouthful to and was surprised by the flavour.

These are -so- complex and full of flavour, there is so much going on in them and I really loved them. They are without a doubt a highlight of this box for me.

Once I’ve finished the breakfast things I have I will be buying the Mixed Box to try out all of the flavours, additionally they sell them in portion packs - perfect for travel!

Final Opinions…

The Maple & Pecan Granola was bloody amazing and stole the show for me, followed by the Genius Vanilla Pancakes which were very lovely. The Swizzels were a nice touch and a bit of fun, but… I didn’t feel like I was being offered an alternative gluten free product.

If I’m completely honest about this box, I’m really disappointed in it. The pancakes I would have likely tried at some point on a weekly grocery shop, so it’s only really the granola that is something new and exciting. I will be buying more of their granola from Just Live A Little as they all sound delicious.

I’ll continue with the box as the past one was okay and I set myself a goal of doing them until the New Year so I could compare the three subscriptions. Let’s see what November brings…
