Buttermilk Collection

In the September Love Free From box I received a Buttermilk Double Choc Crisp Snack Bar which was bloody delicious! This prompted me to visit Buttermilk and select every bar they had to try - I was not disappointed by this decision!

Double Choc Crisp

The bar that started this whole adventure!

Before being glute and dairy free I did love me a Tunnock’s treat and the caramel bars were my favourite. These vaguely resemble the caramel bars in mouthfeel although not in flavour as they are purely chocolate.

Unfortunately these are quite tricky to get a hold of but I have found them at Vegan Town for £1.35 a bar or Snackfully at £1.49 a bar, both places have a steep delivery fee or threshold for free delivery.

Choc Wafer

This bar is not as ‘wafery’ as I would like with not a great deal of crunch to the wafer and possibly my least favourite of all the bars but that doesn’t make it a bad bar.

If you want a purely chocolate taste to your bar then this is the one to go for, more so than the double choc as it’s coated in a thick layer of chocolate that has a satisfying crunch to it.

The cheapest place I’ve found for these is direct with Buttermilk on their 12 case box making each bar £1.29.

Coconut Choccy

Do you like the Bounty of old, a decent size bar jammed with coconut filling? Well this is an old Bounty but even bigger and more fuller!

I instantly went back to my childhood eating this and loved every bite, they are fantastic, delicious, and huge!

Most places (including Buttermilk) sell these at £1.50 a bar, but you can bulk buy 12 from Buttermilk costing you £1.29 a bar.

Peanut Nougat

Thick chocolate exterior with a soft nougat interior acting as the bed of a mild nuttiness that isn’t overpowering. I really enjoyed the combination of texture and flavour through this bar.

Like above the cheapest place to buy these are direct from Buttermilk where a pack of 12 will work out at £1.29 a bar.

Honeycomb Blast

As somebody who enjoyed a Crunchie this is a massive improvement! The chocolate tastes great, the honeycomb is amazing, and the bar is significantly bigger! What a fantastic chocolate bar!

As usual they seem to be £1.50+ a bar across most places, but buying a case of 12 from Buttermilk direct will work out at £1.29.

Caramel Nougat

A great crunch from the outer shell to be met by gooey caramel and soft nougat this is a sensory delight and packed full of caramel flavour. Weirdly biting into this bar reminded me of those little Fudge bars you’d get in the Celebration boxes (I think it was those boxes), the only difference was that these are HUGE in comparison. Delicious bar!

Following trend these are £1.50+ sold individually across different stores and £1.29 buying a case of 12 direct from Buttermilk.

Final Thoughts…

I feel that the Buttermilk chocolate bars take a lot of inspiration from chocolate bars that are already well established on the market, however they take that inspiration and thoroughly improve upon them with better ingredients, making them bigger, and also being gluten free.

For me the Coconut, Honeycomb, and Caramel really stole the show and will be products I keep stocked in the house as a treat.

I have noticed while doing my weekly shop that the bars individually have increase to £1.60 at Sainsbury’s which makes bulk buying direct from Buttermilk a far better deal than it was when I initially started looking at the figures.
