Fish Hunt: A Simple Test

Fish Hunt is the first fishing game I played in Second Life and has been running for many years, as a result the community is huge and there is so much involved in the whole Gold Tokens Universe with their plethora of different games. For the sake of this write up I will be focusing entirely on picking up a rod and casting 100 of each type of worm.

To begin here are four types of worms you can buy and each have different benefits; an interesting fact I discovered while closely monitoring is that the cast time of Small and Tasty Worms vary, so I’ve added the range and average cast time, using the average cast time for my calculations.

Small - L$21 for 100 - +0 XP - 74-79 Seconds Cast Time (76.4 on Average) - Low Lottery Chance

Tasty - L$57 for 100 - +2XP - 52-57 Seconds Cast Time (54.3 Seconds on Average) - Medium Lottery Chance

Enchanted - L$32 for 100 - +3XP - High Lottery Chance

Magic - L$138 for 100 - +10XP - 37 Seconds Cast Time - High Lottery Chance

Experience (XP) is gained while you fish which increases your chance of getting better fish, so how much you earn varies on how high your experience is, obviously getting a lot of experience increases the value of fish that you fish up.

Fish Lottery is something you have a chance of triggering while fishing, this rewards you with alacrity (speed up cast) potions, experience, and worms (there may be other things, but this is all I’ve seen. For the purpose of this write up I won’t be counting any of this, however I did notice while fishing that I was triggering the worms lottery a lot more than I expected which is free worms, so additional profit. At each buoy there is also a Local Fishpot that you have a chance of winning.

For the purpose of this test I only used 1X Fish Buoys, only counted the first 100 casts that I made, discounting additional worms won, speed ups, and experience, here’s the data.

Small Worms

Total Profit: L$18.30 | L$ Profit per Minute: L$0.144 (I did this test back in October 2024 when Profit per Minute was L$0.17, but since then standard prices of Small Worms have increased - which is good for the farmers! I also didn’t notice the varying cast speeds)

Tasty Worms

Total Loss: L$-17.33 | L$ Loss per Minute: L$-0.191

Enchanted Worms

Total Loss: L$-272 | L$ Loss per Minute: L$-3.885

Magic Worms

Total Profit: L$-1,330.75 | L$ Profit per Minute: L$-27.57

All data was collected in May 2025.

Notes & Thoughts Through the Test

  • I’m not sure if this was a fluke but when using Small and Tasty Worms I would get 51 casts on a buoy before I would ‘Spook’ when I used the Enchanted Worms it allowed me to cast 82 times on a single buoy, unfortunately I spooked early on with my Magic Worms so I don’t know if it’s a higher worm thing.

  • Dropping L$1380 on 100 Magic Worms was a bit of a “Do I really want to do 100 worms?” moment.

  • Using the Enchanted and Magic Worms gave me a massive rank and experience boost

Opinion

Based purely upon buying worms from the barrels, if you’re after profit then you shouldn’t go for anything beyond Small Worms, Tasty Worms are viable should you just go for event buoys.

Using worms beyond Small Worms are for, in my opinion, competition such as the weekly Royal Competition, for boosting your rank (thus accessing more valuable fish), and for increasing your standing in the Society. These are all advanced things in the Gold Tokens Universe though.

I am a fan of Fish Hunt, it’s one of my favourite fishing games and has been for many years now, and I’ve made some good friends and connections within the community. There are often events running in Fish Hunt, and there are often private buoys with bigger events running, these can often be found within the Kingdoms though.

There are a lot of upgrades you can do in Fish Hunt and Wili offers a lot of these upgrades on credit which is a fantastic feature as some can be quite expensive. If you plan to make any upgrades then I suggest the first thing you upgrade is your rod.

So far Fish Hunt offers the highest yielding profit per minute of the games I’ve reviewed, so it’s a game I recommend if it’s all about profit.
