Lindo: A Simple Test
I am a big fan of fishing games in Second Life and I also love to collect data, so I decided to take a bit of a field trip and test a few of the games out there, the first will be Lindo.
Lindo is a very simple game where you have a hud and grow a flower based in the sun, sun can be found at terminals hosted by land owners much like a buoy in most other fishing games. By default they are set at a 1X multiplier but there are events that happen that can increase the value.
Unlike other games there are no upgraded rods you can buy, no farms for getting the seeds, it is very simple; wear the hud and buy a seed then grow it, however there are three types of seeds.
Regular - L$2 - Standard seed that grows at a default rate
Silver - L$4 - Grows at the default rate but offers 2x XP upon completion.
Gold - L$6 - Grows faster and gives 2x XP upon completion.
XP is gained at the end of each growth of a flower and is linked to the whole competition module which is meant to give rewards should you be in the top -however- the reward system is turned off so it’s entirely pointless.
For the purpose of this test I only used 1X terminals and tried every seed three times before pulling the data together.
One thing to note when using Lindo and changing seeds which became evident after a few terminals is that it doesn’t use the seed you’ve just bought, but rather the seed that you previously used. So if I bought a Regular seed, used it all to grow a flower, then I bought a Gold Seed, that next flower would grow as a Regular Flower. However if I bought a Regular Seed after that, that flower would be growing from the Gold Seed. It does seem you’re growing things on a seed behind.
Here’s the results of my tests after figuring out the seed issue;

Opinion…
No matter the seed you use you will make profit, however with the fact that Experience means absolutely nothing the Silver and Gold seeds are rather redundant, and increasing the speed by 13 minutes isn’t that big of a deal, if it was halved (30 minutes to completion) then I would consider the Gold Seeds to be a viable option for events, or if the ranking system was active, but even then... maybe not?
As I said, I only used the 1X multipliers for data gathering, the multipliers do increase your profits and there does seem to constantly be a few multipliers active.
It is a very simple and easy system to use with no additional cost for ‘upgrades’ which makes it very easy to pick up and play. It takes about 4 minutes and 30 seconds to go from 0% - 100% Thirst, which is ample time to do jobs away from the computer between clicks.
A Question…
Do you enjoy playing a game in Second Life that rewards you with Linden Dollars? If so then let me know in the comments or inworld as Kaline Lycia.
