Celestial Butterfly: A Simple Test

I am already quite invested into Celestial Butterfly so it felt unfair using my main to run a test, however in Celestial Butterfly you are allowed two accounts on the same IP, so I grabbed an alt and started using this system completely from fresh. The beauty of Celestial Butterfly is in the leveling system which offers so many benefits to you the higher you get, I would write about it but they’ve done a fantastic job of breaking it all down here. Which is another fantastic thing about Celestial Butterfly, they have so much information already out there for you on their official info and guide, which is also very easy to navigate.

There are four types of net in Celestial Butterfly for the purpose of this I used the starter free net, but these are the nets you can get.

Beginner Butterfly Net: No Base XP Boost, 35 Daily Hunts per Stump.

Lunar Wing Catcher: Base XP Boost X2, 40 Casts

Angel Wings Catcher: Base XP Boost X3, 45 Daily Hunts per Stump, requires Level 10

Dreamweaver Catcher: Base XP Boost X4, 45 Daily Hunts per Stump, X2 Butterfly Scales, requires Level 20

There are four types of Nectar (which is what you use to catch butterflies) in this game and they are as follows;

Tranquil Nectar: 75 Second Cast Time | L$0.17 each

Fleeting Nectar: 60 Second Cast Time. +1 XP | L$0.53 each

Swift Nectar: 50 Second Cast Time. +2 XP | L$2.29 each

Flash Nectar: 40 Second Cast Time. +3 XP | L$5.20 each

For this test I stopped at Fleeting Nectar as it already went into the negatives, however with the sheer amount of active multipliers running I decided to try something a little different to see if the Fleeting Nectar could be viable on a 2X Multiplier.

Tranquil nectar

Total Profit: L$7.48 | L$ Profit per Minute: L$0.059

Fleeting Nectar

Alt Account: Total Loss: L$-26.68 | L$ Loss per Minute: L$0.266

Fleeting Nectar 2X Only

Alt Account: Total Loss: L$-3.15 | L$ Loss per Minute: L$-0.031

All data was collected in July 2025.

Opinion

Celestial Butterfly is a system that I really enjoy using as it’s asthetically pleasing to look at, very simple at the base level, has a wonderful community with active CSR’s, and I really like the leveling system. Everything just works and that’s what you want.

Although when it comes to putting it all out on paper it is the lowest profit per minute game from a fresh avatar, it doesn’t feel that way and does make you feel like you’re earning, but this could be because there are constant multipliers running all the time - at the time of writing this there are 40 stumps with 2X multipliers running, most of which are always on.

Once I hit level 5 there is a 1% increase to value of butterflies, so I think I will continue using my alt and re-do this test to see if that makes much of a difference,

A Question…

Do you enjoy playing a game in Second Life that rewards you with Linden Dollars? If so then let me know in the comments or inworld as Kaline Lycia.
