RHOBH: S15, E01 - Hot Girl Summer
The Episode…
After watching Real Housewives of London recently, coming back to Beverly Hills has been a trip back into the fantasy land of Beverly Hills, where everything is modern and flashy, it’s a very different show. I’ve missed seeing the women, especially Erika.
This was a bit of a pilot/filler episode with no real drama unfolding, it was light and friendly for the most part, and set for introducing Rachel Zoe to the show as a new housewife. There were points of interest that were brought up and I expect these to be topics of hostility, gossip, and drama in the coming episodes; What happened with Avi? Is Kyle still talking to PK? What’s going on between PK and Dorit? Are Dorit and Kyle going to kill one another? Is Dorit going to talk our ears off again? What happened with Garcelle and Sutton? Who is Rachel? What’s going on with Erika in her love life? How’s Kyle doing with the divorce? And how’s the wedding planning going to go?
The Housewives…
Erika Girardi (Jayne)- Still as fantastic as ever; loving her ‘give no fucks’ attitude to clothing, and the shoes at the start when she’s cleaning the car are fantastic! What I love about Erika is that she is sex positive, she’s been through hell and has a great perspective on life because of it, she’s a queer ally; which I would love to see more of across the franchises.
Kyle Richards - Really enjoyed seeing her with her daughters (Portia has grown up!), however I get the impression she is still a solid liar when asked if she’s still talking to PK. I could be bias based on how she was over the last seasons, but I find it very difficult to trust anything she says.
Dorit Kemsley - Her style of clothing improved so much last season and this year it’s still going strong. There are clearly bad vibes between her and Sutton still, and I’m expecting some sort of explosion this season between her and Kyle in regards to PK - I expect he will be a constant topic this season. I also expect she will be doing a lot of talking and not a lot of listening… we’ll see.
Sutton Stracke - “Suh’un” was so cringey last season and this season she seems to be being cast as the ‘victim’ of the show. I’m very curious what happened to Avi as, I couldn’t stand Sutton last season but adored Avi - was he too popular? Has Sutton’s windfall drained, I imagine he was expensive! Was there an argument? I expect this will be a topic this season.
Bozoma Saint John - Such a strong and fantastic person; I loved the candidness between her and Erika when they had lunch. I absolutely adore Keely and love how down to earth the two of them are together
Rachel Zoe - Initially I got a very robot feel about Rachel which thawed out as she talked about her children, her youngest was a right laugh when talking to his Mum. Her whole image reminds me of a Roblox game that my child plays, Dress to Impress, but I suppose it’s the generic fashion style and the game was probably styled on her rather than the other way round. I am very curious to see more of who she is and what she brings to the table, she seems like she could be quite fierce.
Amanda Francis - She is on the splash screen and is said to be in Season 15, but hasn’t yet had her introduction, I expect she will pop up in the next few episodes.
Other people…
Kathy - She is so all over the place and I love that about her, she is the wildcard and you never know what she’s going to do, which brings a lot of fun to the table. I would hate to be friends with her, but I adore watching what she’s going to do next… or pull out of her bag.
Garcelle - Gone and glad for it! I do not like Sutton, but I dislike Garcelle even more! She threw Sutton under the bus while pretending to be a friend, she is/was generally a nasty piece of work and I’m glad to see her gone.
Tilly - Where is Tilly?! I loved Tilly! She’s the right kind of quirky and while watching Housewives of London I felt Tilly would fit in with that crowd - bespoke, weird, and wonderful fashion! I hope we see her in this season as she was such a character!
