For my 40th and for Min’s 50th rather than having a big party we decided to treat ourselves and have a spa break at Quob Park. Megan put together a fantastic bespoke package for a two night stay in a presidential suite, breakfast on both mornings, three 50 minute treatments each in the spa and full spa access, transport to and from the estate to have a 9 course gourmet taster and wine pairing dinner, as well as an a la carte dinner on the second night.
The venue was fantastic, the food amazing, the spa was heavenly, the drinks were superb, and the staff gave that VIP treatment for the entire stay! I felt like I was living in luxury!
Quob Park Old House Hotel
The Old House is a Georgian Period hotel which is oozing with character, it felt so welcoming and comfortable throughout with a member of staff a button press away wherever you were. The staff were most welcoming and very helpful!
While there we stayed in the Heritage Suite which was a huge room with an ensuite, followed by another room (which became the dressing room), and a massive wet room with rain shower. The decoration throughout was lovely, there was plenty of space to store all of our stuff, and the facilities were all functional (although the ensuite took a while for the warm water to kick in).
Breakfasts in the morning were very hearty and delicious! I had greek yoghurt with seasonal fruit followed by a full english on both days; it was a bit much but I managed to stuff it all in! Great quality and catered for Gluten Free!
There were some drawbacks to the place, the most significant of them was the hotel car park which is not really suitable, especially with how big some cars are these days (getting out was a pain as there was a rather long SUV parked up, so it involved going into the bushes to get out), fortunately our car has 360* cameras on it which made it possible. Personally I would like to see the hotel buy the spaces outside the hotel, or come to an agreement with the owners of those spaces for hotel guests (it’s currently £1.20 for 3 hours, but no return for 3 hours).
A very minor gripe was that there was no itemised bill on check out, I feel you should have been able to see exactly what you were paying for before you pay. It was what we expected it to be around, but still I would have preferred to have seen things beforehand.
Quob Park Old House Rose Spa
What a fantastic place! It’s a tucked away secret sanctuary behind the hotel and does make you feel like you’ve entered a place of serenity. Inside it has two outdoor sections at the rear that felt like little hideaways each containing a hot tub, sauna, and plunge pool; it gave you that little extra privacy to relax.
Inside there was an automatic massage chair (which I’ve read so many great reviews about, however didn’t get around to trying), a magnetic water bed upstairs (which was amazing post treatment), further in there were infared beds and a steam room that I didn’t try, and another outdoor space which I believe had a hot tub, sauna and plunge pool.
We had booked ourselves up for three treatments each; we had a full body scrub and full body massage - I didn’t get the names of the two giving us our treatments on the first day but the woman I had did a fantastic firm massage that put everything back in place! On Day 2 we had another treatment which was a facial each, this also included a shoulders, arms, and hands massage! This was with Maisy and Freya who were informative and made us both feel comfortably at ease. We both agreed that the spa was fantastic and it will be visited again!
Quob Park Estate Vineyard
Unfortunately I only got to see the vineyard at night so didn’t get to see much of the natural beauty, however the venue itself was beautifully laid out. For the first night we had a 9 course taster meal with wine pairings which was a fantastic experience! Byron was looking after us and made me feel very comfortable even with my complete lack of knowledge when it comes to wine. The food was superb! I have no idea what half the stuff I ate was, but it was all delicious, and I’m not 100% sure on what drinks I had, but they worked really well. I would have preferred to have been given a piece of paper at the end with all the food and drink details, unfortunately it’s all done via their app which I find to be a bit janky. I do know that I had the beef bourguignon as I had that the second night, as it was so full of flavour!
I would love to go back to the vineyard for food again, but during the daytime, it looks like it would be a beautiful place to eat and drink wine while taking in the surroundings.
